What is website development?

Overview

Website development involves building a website from ideation to completion. At BS LLC, the Website Development phase specifically refers to the coding and engineering of the website design after the Design Freeze. The process is enabled by programming languages and tools to create a website's visual layout, structure, and functionality.

Languages Used in Website Development

The main languages used in coding the site design are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML is used to create the structure and layout of the website. CSS is used to control the visual presentation of the website, and JavaScript is used to make webpages interactive and dynamic.

Additional Tools Used in Website Development

In addition to these languages, developers may also use other tools such as frameworks, libraries, and CMS(Content Management Systems) like AngularJS, ReactJS, VueJS, WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal, which help to streamline the development process, making it easier to create a functional and visually appealing website.

APIs

The Development process additionally includes the development of APIs to facilitate application integrations. Click here to learn more about website integrations.

Benefits of Using WordPress

WordPress is our preferred Content Management System (CMS) for several reasons. It is user-friendly, highly customizable, SEO-friendly, has a large community, is free and open-source, and scalable.

Quality Assurance

Once the website development is complete, we enter into Quality Assurance (QA), which is a process of testing the website for bugs, errors, and other issues. This includes functionality testing, compatibility testing, and security testing. Any issues found during the QA process are addressed and fixed before moving to the next phase.

During this time, we open up the editing process to the client to review the website for errors. Typically, this process is open for 3 weeks after the launch of the development site. Bugs submitted outside of the permitted timeline will be seen as change requests.

Website Production

After the website has passed the QA process, it moves into Website Production, where it is launched and made available to the public. This includes setting up the web server, deploying the website code, and configuring the website to work with any necessary third-party tools and services.

Conclusion

In summary, website development with a focus on coding the site design involves using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create the structure, layout, and functionality of a website, and other tools and frameworks to streamline the development process. Once the website development is complete, it goes through the QA process to ensure that it is free of bugs and errors before moving to Website Production, where it is launched and made available to the public.
